Hernan "Shades" Alvarez is a Marvel Comics character and supervillain who appears in Luke Cage.
History[]
He is a ruthless mob enforcer and hitman who is undyingly loyal to Mariah Dillard, and acts as Mariah Dillard's number one man and as Luke Cage's archnemesis. His history with Luke found him jailed at Seagate Prison with Luke when he was still known as Carl Lucas, and he beat him up there. He was originally one of Diamondback's henchmen who was placed with Cottonmouth until he began questioning Diamondback himself.
He is a master at hand-to-hand combat and an expert marksman. The sunglasses that give him his supervillain codename were made by HYDRA and give him the power to shoot repulsor blasts from his eyes.
