The Lonesome Ghosts are the minor villains featured in the 1937 short Lonesome Ghosts. All of was these ghosts were voiced by Billy Bletcher.

Role in the film

They were bored because there wasn't anyone left to scare so they called in the Ajax Ghost Exterminators (Mickey, Donald, and Goofy) so they can "scare the pants off of them". In the end, they trap Goofy in a dresser and shove it down the stairs (where Mickey and Donald were waiting), and they collide with tar and flour. The ghosts rush downstairs, see them, and think they're ghosts. They run through the hallways (knocking stuff over) shouting "Ghosts!". They crash out the window and turn invisible, making footprints in the snow as they run off into the distance. Donald shouts after them "So ya can't take it, ya big sissies!". Amen to that.

Appearance

All ghosts have greenish white skin and tongues, and red noses. They all wear black derbies, green footie pajamas with no sleeves, and matching shoulder capes. On an interesting note, the only distinguishable ghost is the third ghost to appear in the short, being abnormally short and having an extraordinarily tall derby.

Trivia

  • They make a cameo in the House of Mouse episode House Ghosts to scare Pete and pull his underwear. In Mickey's House of Villains, they are seen joining the other villains during a hostile takeover. This only lasted a very short amount of time, though, before the leader of the takeover, Jafar, was trapped inside the Lamp by Mickey.
  • This short aired as part of "Disney's Halloween Hall of Fame", "Disney's Halloween Treat" and "A Disney Halloween". These three specials aired from the 1970's to the late 1990's.
  • The Lonesome Ghosts also appear as part of The Haunted Mansion alongside the other Disney ghosts. In the attraction they serve as tour guides for mortal guests after the original mortal tour guide was dispatched by an undead arm emerging from the wall nicknamed "Harry the Arm". They then provide commentary and guide mortals to the wedding of "Mlle Vampire" and "Monsieur Bogyman" and at the end of the attraction, they take them through a secret passageway in the fireplace when the wedding guests cause a riot.
