Gerald Carr is the main antagonist of the original 2013/2014 draft of Cars 3. He was going to be the main antagonist of the film; however, he was ultimately scrapped after the original director was replaced.
He was a criminal and, after swapping bodies with Lightning McQueen, managed to steal his identity. He was living with his MeeMaw, and was jealous of McQueen due to his grandmother constantly praising the race car and treating her grandson poorly. He was cut from the film around the summer of 2014.
Personality[]
At some point in his life, Gerald moved in with his MeeMaw, who despised him, calling him a "waste of metal" and constantly compared him to Lightning McQueen, a car she wished he could be more like. He later started obsessing over the race car, and, after learning more about his life, decided to swap bodies with him. He ended up swapping bodies with three other cars, as he took a picture with each of their unconscious bodies, before finally swapping bodies with Lightning. While in the racer's body, he retired from racing and proposed to Sally, to which she agreed to marry him. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards, but it is likely he gets arrested by the end of the movie.
History[]
During Gerald's childhood, he was very depressed. Her grandmother would always compare him to McQueen almost every time. As revealed in some photos from a storyboard, he didn't get any Christmas presents on Christmas holidays and was still depressed even after graduating. However, after that, he slowly became more and more unamused and presumably had enough of his past memories.
After some time, Gerald had a plan. He wanted to kidnap McQueen and steal his identity by switching engines and try to make him retire from racing, while also trying to marry Sally. He studied McQueen's personality and also studied his friendships with the other cars in Radiator Springs while also trying to make one to one recreations of his decals, paint jobs and more. Once it was the right time, he successfully kidnapped McQueen and switched their engines. Not much is known about what happened after Gerald stole McQueen's identity, but he did try to propose to Sally.
