Remember the bad guys on those shows you used to watch on Saturday mornings? Well, these guys are not like those guys. They won't exercise restraint because you're children. They will kill you if they get the chance."

— Elastigirl in The Incredibles.

Knight of Cerebus is a type of villain who appears in a show where there is usually comical or incompetent villains and the villain quickly goes against those rules. Other times a Knight of Cerebus is simply a villain whose episode or a movie in which antagonizes focuses primarily on the seriousness and drama and less on humor.

For a villain qualify in this category, the villain should provoke situations really threatening than any other villain that has appeared in the series / sequel, and presence to do evil is quite serious and not meant to be funny.

Good examples for this are Carnage from Spiderman, The Joker from Batman and Meleficent from Sleeping Beauty Other examples, like Frollo from the Hunchback, Barracuda from Finding Nemo, Chernabog  and Shan Yu from Mulan, are seen as more competent than the rest of the villains.
