Description[]
He was the first lieutenant serving James Norrington and then followed Barbossa with Groves aboard HMS Providence. Although loyal, Gillette is very prideful, arrogant, and sometimes sarcastic.
History[]
Pirates of the Carribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl[]
In the first film, Gillette is a lieutenant under Norrington. After failing to stop Jack Sparrow, the latter orders Gillette to find the pirate. He later also helps find Elizabeth Swann and after doing so he ignores her warnings about the cursed pirates saying that a "mermaid told the whole story". However, it turns out she was telling the truth when the pirates in question attack HMS Dauntless, and Gillette is in hiding rather than fighting.
He survives and is seen again at the end of Sparrow's execution. When the latter flees once more, Gillette asks Norrington whether to pursue him but the Commodore gives Sparrow a day, much to Gillette's dismay.
Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides[]
Gillette returns to the film series and becomes a henchman for Hector Barbossa. With Groves and his men, he follows him to Whitecap Bay and sees HMS Providence being attacked by sirens. They later travel to the Fountain of Youth and fight Blackbeard and his pirates. During the fight, Gillette is accidentally killed with a sword by Blackbeard and falls on Barbossa who pushes his body back.
